The method of setting the theft deterrent system in the active mode and unset the operation of the alarm state are as follows.
(1)Set theft deterrent system
<1>Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder.
<2>Close all the doors, luggage door, and engine hood before locking with a key or transmitter. (Disarmed state to Armed preparation state)
When the doors are locked with all the doors, luggage door and engine hood closed, indicator state changes.
Vehicle with immobiliser: from blinking to illuminated.
Vehicle without immobiliser: from off to illuminated.
<3>The system reaches the armed state approximately 30 seconds after locking and the indicator changes from lighting up steadily to blinking. (Armed preparation state to Armed state)
Unset the alarm state operation
The theft deterrent system consists of the following components.
1.ECU
Theft deterrent ECU
Body ECU
When this ECU receives the signal from each switch and detects the vehicle theft condition, it transmits the signal to the alarming devices.
2.Alarming devices
Security horn
Vehicle horn
Headlights and taillight
These are operations to alarm those around the vehicle theft breaks in.
Security indicator light
This informs whether the system is in the armed state. When the system is in the armed state, the indicator light flashes to inform those around the vehicle that the vehicle is equipped with a theft deterrent system.
Door lock assembly (motor)
When the system reaches the alarm state and the doors are unlocked, the system automatically locks the doors.
3.Switch
Door courtesy switch
Engine hood courtesy switch
Luggage door courtesy switch
These switches detect the open/closed state of each door, engine hood and luggage door and transmit the signal to the theft deterrent ECU.
Ignition switch
This switch detects the state of the ignition switch and transmits the signal to the theft deterrent ECU.
Key unlock warning switch
This switch detects whether the key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder and transmits the signal to the theft deterrent ECU.
Door lock assembly (position switch)
Luggage door key unlock switch
These switches detect the lock/unlocked state of each door and transmit the signal to the theft deterrent ECU.
4.Others
Some models use the following components to control the theft deterrent system.
Intrusion sensor (radar sensor)
This radiates the microwave signal into the cabin to detect movement in the cabin and sends the signal to the theft deterrent ECU.
If an animal such as a pet is in the cabin when the system is in the armed state, the sensor could detect it and operate.
There is a method to cancel this function.
Security power siren
The siren has a built-in battery and can alarm even when the vehicle battery is disconnected.
