Headlight Beam Level Control System

(1)Headlight beam level control switch
The driver can adjust the headlight beam level up and down using the dial knob. A variable resistor in the switch outputs an amount of current in proportion to the position of the dial knob.
(2)Headlight beam level control actuator
An actuator rotates a motor in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction and moves the output shaft back and forth according to the operation of the headlight beam level control switch, moving the headlight beam level up or down. The actuator is equipped with a potentiometer. A signal is transmitted to the internal IC according to the position of the actuator.

An amount of current proportional to the position of the headlight beam level control switch is output from the ICs. The ICs in the right and left actuators drive the motor in accordance with the amount of current from the switch. The ICs in the actuators simultaneously detect the actual positions (headlight beam level) of the actuators by means of the potentiometer and control the operation of the motor. This makes it possible for the actuators to detect the position of the headlight beam level according to the current from the switch.
